detergent motor oil versus non

I am the proud owner of a 76 powerwagon and i was reading about the non detergent oil woes. i run dual fram hp#1 on my beast with straight castrol 30w i was wondering of how about taking 1 qt of detergent oil in the 230 and increase i more quart of detergent in future oil changes til you are running a full fill if detergent oil. maybe remove oilpan and install new screen before this happens?
