I had a most interesting experience when I "assumed" that Ford numbered their cylinders the same way and hooked up spark plug wires accordingly. Probably the loudest backfire I ever heard. If the hood had been on the truck I think it would have been blown off! So never assume--check first. BTW Ford 360 #1 is front on passenger's side, then 2,3,&4 down that side, swap over to left side front and count 5,6,7,& 8. Weird to a Mopar fan.
