The engine is a gmc 6.9 diesel, just like the V-6 Jeeps once used gm engines, and most Jeeps used Saginal steering. Look at the tailights, they are off the shelve CJ-7 lights. AMC manufacturered very little of their own parts, they used Motorcraft and gm carbs, Wagoneers used 727 trannys, and on and on. Trust me it's an AM General! Owning a 70's to late 80's Jeep, prior to Mopar, is an exciting time of driving to ferd, gm and salvage yards to find parts since Mopar really doesn't want to carry the competitions stuff.
Can you imagine if AMC hadn't spun off AMG? You'd have a Hummer with a V-10 or Cummins, with decent trannys and other parts, instead of that gm junk!
PS: get a haircut! ha!ha!
