In 1997, I drove my 1968 W300 (4.88 axles but with 11.00-16 Michelins) from Denver, CO to New York state, to Virginia, to Memphis TN then back to Denver, about 4,500 miles. It has also been from Denver to Texas twice, to CA once and to Michigan twice. I get from 9.5 to 8.5 mpg with the LA-318, depending on whether the towed trailer is empty or loaded. It rides real nice and crusies at 65 mph, but abuses my gasoline credit card.
