If your springs have tapered leaves at the ends, both in thickness and width, with rounded corners and a grease groove on the underside of each leaf (they look like they were forged into shape rather than sheared), then chances are that they are original. The originals are also of a "split main leaf" design. The secondary main leaf is made of two halves meeting end to end above the axle and fitting together with a "chevron" shaped male and female fit. If they are not too rusty, you may find the 7 digit part number stamped into the bottom leaf within the grease groove right next to the axle pad. For the beginning of the WDX run, only one set of front springs were offered. Rated at 1100 lb and rather weak. Heavier springs were offered after a year or so. I do not know if the springs offered by VPW are exact matches or not, but they should work and will probably be rated higher than your originals. I want to say that the original spring packs contained 11 leaves. I do not have the information in front of me, and although I should know this be heart by now, I am drawing a blank on that point.
