ken - same experience
Norm (from whom i bought my pw) is in his mid 70's and he was changing an 8.25x20 by hand one day when i stopped by to see him (he always did his own pw wheels also).
i borrowed the hand bead breaker tool (looks like a 12in chisel with a wide flat face to dislodge the bead from the wheel) from him so i could dismount & mount a set on the pw (i am an old tire guy norm only has 12 years on me) (did them outside under a tent - picked a nice 108 day had to leave the tools in bucket of water when not using them)
Budd wheels are easy and safe to work with only problem is the weight of the wheel and tire (tires are about 90lbs [44kg] alone)
