The double clutch down shift is described in one of the posts. This is difficult if you are trying to do this at normal road speed, much easier if you slow down first.

But upshifting is very easy. Run the truck up in 2nd gear, put clutch in and pull shift lever into neutral, let clutch out at idle speed, put clutch back in and shift into 3rd. Same procedure for 4th. Once you are used to this procedure, it can be done pretty quickly with flawless results because you aren't trying to match speeds like you have to on downshifting.

As mentioned in another post, you can do pretty well just shifting slowly but this procedure is not flawless in my hands.

Changing to a sychro trans is possible but requires a different trans floor pan, different right side floor pan, and I think a different bell housing. However, I have one with a synchro transmission and it is much nice to drive. The upshifts can be done a little faster which is helpful with trucks that are slowing down faster than you can shift. Also, the downshifts are much nicer and helpful in slowing it down when you want to.
