I have a 218 flathead. Had a leak on what I thought was rear main seal. turned out that just below the seal their is a hole cast in lower main retainer that was dribbling. Looked in the book, and it showed a seal with a metal retainer bolted on. I have the holes tapped in for this 2 piece seal, but it isnt there. the seal there is 2 piece, but it is of the conventional type.(see just a rubber lip sticking out) I matched this seal up to the old one and installed it when I regasketed the motor(felpro kit). Should I have the metal retainers on there, or are there different seals used on cirtain motors. In the B1 shop manual it says to look for holes and plug, but still mentions the metal seal. got me stumped. The seal that I have installed looks like it is sealed fine, just the weep hole from what the book says is a hole from the slinger that they say plug is leaking. Thanks for help, John
