i attempted to start my townwagon today after a new engine/and electronic ignition. the engine wanted to run but it would not fire off. the ballast resistor(new) got very hot and started smoking.(with key in the on position) i went over the wiring steps many times and could not find anything wrong. i have installed a few elec ignition conversions and never had a problem. i went back to the old points distributor hookup and the engine fired right up but the ballast resistor is still getting real hot and the engine doesn't run very well. i have checked all of the obvious things, tried different resistors, correct firing order, distributor installation to tdc etc. the electronic ign kit is a new mopar unit. also verified 12v side of ballast resistor with ignition on per directions. i would appreciate any and all help, thanks....sal
