Dana,
Don't let them get to you. The majority on this forum have a very good idea how to repair, restore & modify these trucks....but it seems very few of them know what one's worth. What a truck is worth is not how much we can buy the one sitting in ol' farmer Jedd's field, but what the general public will pay for it at auction. I've posted many times on this forum regarding the value of these trucks, so I won't go on a rant just now, but hopefully it will comfort you to know that I've recieved the same email when I've sold my trucks on Ebay as well....both selling in excess of $23,000, & I think if you check my Ebay feedback you'll see both buyers are very very satisfied & pleased with their purchases at those prices. It made me sick to see Jonas's truck sell for only $10,000.00 last month, & it would make me sick if the bidding only goes to $10-$12 on yours. Unfortunately most of the guys that have trouble getting a grip on the value of these trucks are the ones that have bought old recks & never put in the hours & dollars to see just what it takes to restore one properly. Maybe a few of these guys should contact George Wellman & see just what it would take to buy his Woodie, like I have. I can tell you it would be well over $50,000, & there would be several buyers lining up to get it, including myself.
There are guys out there that want to buy these trucks run down & in need of full restoration. This includes most of the readers of this forum....the guys that don't mind getting their hands dirty & cut up & have spent their lives working on cars, trucks & tractors. These are the guys always out looking for a deal on an original old truck in need of many many hours of work. These trucks are out there & can be bought for under $5000, but they're certainly not drivers. Then you have the guy that has no time or interest in turning bolt#1 on a Dodge Power Wagon, but they still love them for what they are & are willing to pay for someone else to do the huge job necessary to make them reliable drivers. Even the BEST originals still need THOUSANDS of hours work to make them drivers once they've sat for 30 or more years. You guys know what it takes? Maybe we should get Jonas to keep a log book of how many hours it will take him to get his new 3000 original mile P/W to the point that it can be driven every day reliably.
Just because we enjoy this work, is it that strange that there are people out there willing to pay for it to be done for them?

Good luck with your auction Dana, your truck is worth however much the bidding goes to....that's how auctions work.
