I've used/abused a DeWalt 5" angle grinder for about 10 years now. It's fairly small and has pleny of power (6 amps?). I use it all the time at work for shaping wood with a 5" grinding pad, but I often use it with a grinding wheel or wire brush as well.

I like the DeWalt because it is easy to hold, and has a short paddle switch, so you can let go of the switch and still hold onto the grinder. A co-worker has a Milwaukee grinder, and it's hard to let go of the switch without dropping the grinder. I don't like the side switch type, like some of the Makitas, as they don't shut down if you let go/drop them, and sometimes they are hard to turn off, especially if you are wearing gloves.

A good place to buy tools is Tool Crib (on Amazon's site). They generally have very good prices. I've found that local tool houses (even the more expensive ones) will often match price with Tool Crib, just to get the sale. Try it.

Good luck,
Greg
