The DMV insisted on registering my 1967 Kaiser-Jeep M35A2 as a "1967 Jeep Stakeside". I tried to explain that it wasn't a Jeep, that Kaiser-Jeep was different from "plain" AMC Jeep, that the exact same trucks were made by Reo, Studebaker, Kaiser-Jeep, and AM General, but they weren't interested, and "Jeep" was the closest "make" category on their computer, and there wasn't any "M35" listed under "model" so they picked "stakeside". Fortunately under "color", "multi" was one of the choices.

I've had lots of people ask me if the M35 or the M37 was a jeep, but at least they've all taken "no" for the answer. The strange thing there are still people who will insist that you can get a jeep in a crate without wheels from the government for $50, and they WON'T listen to anything I have to say to the contrary. Of course I ask them who they know that got one, and it was just "I heard from this guy that..., but I swear it's true." I say "You go get one and I'll give you $500 for it in the crate and without the wheels. I'll even come pick it up."
