Benz diesels are pretty high reving automotive designs, the late seventies three liter five made 80hp@4000rpm with 116lb.ft at 2400rpm from 2971cc and was used in the 240D(3.0) and the 300D from 5/74 through 11/76 (US models).

This wouldn't be my first choice of an engine for a swap (I think that you'll end up with performance very similar to the stock engine but with better economy), but it all depends on how you want to use your truck...
