Good Idea! The 300D and 240D are good engines which last a long time. I just gave my 77 300D to my brother with the odometer stuck at 259,000 miles.

These were available with 4 or 5 speed manual transmissions beside the automatic. The bellhousings were the same on the early 300D and the 240D. Lots of trucks also used these engines and even some motor homes sold in the US. Look for the heavy 5 speed truck transmission.

I ran my old 300D at continous high RPM for days at a time. It really liked to rev up there and there was no ill-affects.

Look for ADSIT Company.(Don't know what it means) They have specials on all kinds of parts and rebuilt motors and transmissions. I think they also have an extensive salvage yard which might yield what you seek.

Good Luck
Steve
