In Germany they put these 3.0 litre engines in Unimog 404 Petrol ones for overland tours through Africa, and they lasted. Average weight of the Unimogs loaded about 4-5 tons. Due to the 5.83 diff ratio it surely has enough power and tourque. The flathead engines are strong but remember all of them are old so average they never have the power and torque accordingly to books. You can do 3200 rpm on a 3 ltr diesel without any problem for long distances. I know a Unimog camper conversion with this engine going 110 km/h but at the end his diffs heated up too much.
