Although a Robert Zentmyer may exist and may enjoy Power Wagons, the person whom you are trying to identify is most likely John Zentmyer, who for many years has written about Dodge 4X4 trucks. However, his conversion manual TM 9-1808C, titled "Power Train and Interchanges: Military/Civilian Trucks 1941 to 1971 (Dodge)" does not discuss or mention the Spicer 3053a transmission, so will be of no help to you in making that particular conversion. His other book is a brief history of the M37/M43 series of trucks, and likewise does not discuss or mention the Spicer 3053A transmission. Neither Zentmyer book answers your particular transmission swap questions. Nevertheless, sinced you asked, the books should be available from Vintage Power Wagons and Portrayal Press, among other sources.

I hope this information reduces your confusion somewhat and helps you avoid another dead end path in your quest for rather obsecure knowledge. Good luck with your transmission swap; I'll continue to follow your progress with interest.
