Hmmm, I remember a bronze bushing that comes in larger diameter steel 'bushing' that goes into later model 318s. The problem is the input shaft on the old transmissions is so long it needs to go into the crank. There's a remote possibility you could shorten the input shaft and use this late model bushing if it fits, but I think this is a really bad idea and would really require pulling the engine and trans to do it right. I think it's time you dropped the crank out and trade it for an exchange 'crank kit' (about $150 with bearings) or have a machine shop put your crank on a lathe and bore the hole. If you're talking about a 61-71 truck, you should have plenty of clearance to do this in the truck. This is the correct way to do the job.
