Do not use the 13" pipe covered bolt as a fairlead. The cable should not run agianst it with any heavy load ...it will bend and can damage the attached castings. I belive its main design purpose is to help stabilize the ends of the horn shaped castings when pulling from the side. It also helps to keep cable from spooling off to big, but if properly adjusted the drag of the spool brake would work better.
