Tell me more about the "steam shovel" show was it a REAL steamer (Erie, Marion etc) or a diesel/gas machine. I have seen an Erie shovel 3/4 yard steamer at work in western PA and know of another in VA that put on shows. If you have never seen a steam shovel at work its worth checking out.
