You may want to have it checked at one of your local auto parts stores. To test your generator, disconnect the lead going to the "A" terminal of the voltage regulator and strike it against the engine at a fast idle. If you have sparks, it working. Buy yourself a cheap ampmeter, connect a wire to each terminal. Start your truck and disconnect the negative cable, then plug in the ampmeter to see if the system is charging (this is another check). If not, trace your wires for broken or loose wire. If none found, probably a bad voltage regulator. Go to the glove box and parts interchange file for the electrical section and part numbers.
