The only relation the Jeep 199-232-258-4.0 six have to the Slant six is by "marrige" The Designs are different and NO PARTS interchange! TOTALLY different! They are both good running-last-forver-efficent engines. The AMC six was desined by GM! The Slant six was strictly in-house MOPAR design. The AMC six is also physically longer than the Slanter as well. Now here is another cool idea, which has been done, and works well. You can with just a slight bit of machine work, take and put a 258 Crank and rods into a 4.0 Block and build a 288 stroker! it works well, expecially with fuel injection.
