GTK has the best way Brian. I wouldn't burn. spray, or especially strip parts,... unless you're fond of lung cancer or lymphoma. There are many , many suitable and safer chemicals on the market to do any of the below mentioned uses, and gasoline is NOT one of them.
Now,..if it is just watered and does not have MTBE in it (older fuel) then you might try Marvel Mystery Oil (don't ask me how it works, it's a mystery!) to re-convert it and run it dry. If you have already removed the fuel, take it to a proper disposal site. The're normaly free.
