These Dodge Power Wagons are not some hunk-O-metal to chop up and turn into a halfbreed mongrel truck. Sell it to someone who knows what it is and appreciates old Dodge 4x4s and who will respect its heritage. If you've just got to swap engines, buy a kit and put a MOPAR engine in a MOPAR vehicle.
You could just as easily have found and old beater 4x4 and mounted the 4x4 divetrain umder the electra 225. These old PWs were not designed for roarng 55-65 mph up and down the highway with the super low gears
of 5:83. A change of gears to the only other set made (4:89s)would afford you purhaps 50-55 mph. Remember, low gearing causes every item throughout the drivetrain to run at higher rpms as speed increases, increased rpms increases wear, heat, lub breakdown which naturally lowers the life expectantcy of these components and a larger engine does nothing to solve that situation and you will pay for those higher than normal speeds everytime you forget to wear your earplugs.
5:83 gears at 55 mph will cause such gearwhine that, well, just imagine riding a wood chipper running wide open! And yes, as long as the stuff is the older manual type, parts can be fabricated by local drivetran specialist. If its not a PW you are trying to
butcher please ,disregard my comments.
