Diping leaves fluid in the seams which will eventually bleed out rust stains on you nic paint job. Have it blasted. I have mine done with a garnet and walnut shell mix. There is no metal warpage and it is not too agressive. The surface come out with a nice patina which is very easily sanded out with 220 paper. It does a very good job of getting the rust out. It may take a little more work but you do not blow things apart like I have seen some blasters do with coarser material.

My small parts I blast with a straight garnet media in a small table to blast unit.
