My WC 56 has the same problem, I've just dealt with it for 15 Years. Seems if you set it to automatic, it will click off when the foam hits the filler neck, causing you to "Think" your topped off. As my gauge STILL doesn't work, I carefully top her off before every major trip/ event. I run her right up to the neck (no expansion safety area, as by driving about a mile she'll DRINK enough to lower the level.)

I've found that resting the nozzel almost out of the tank, and setting it on the lowest pump setting sped, I can fill most of the tank. Really depends on the station and nozzel type you get. Those with the plastic vapor recovery are the worst.

As an experiment, try taking a section of 4x4 with you next time or find an station with a slope by the fuel pump. Park, get out insert the 4x4 in front of the tire, then drive forward ontop of it, changing the angle to slope into the tank. If it fills easier, either always search for the sloped stations, carry a 4x4, OR modify the vent???

WAW
