Dave, doing the GM V-8 swap into my Jags I'll tell you that John's Cars, Inc, in Dallas, TX, a Chevy/Jaguar conversion place, sells a kit for about $150 to put into the 700R4. It fools the selenoid into thinking its always charged and therefore shifts by RPM rather than waiting for a computer to tell it when to shift. GM switched in mid-'89 so if it's pre-'89 1/2 this kit will work, but for the '90 tranny, call them, they can probably still help you out. John's has instructions a 4 years old can follow and althougth its a little frustrating to do it, it's the cheapest way to convert to a non computer set-up for the tranny.
