Totally off topic-----GM diesel swap to GM gasoline

Anyone ever put a GM 350 gasoline engine in place of a 6.2L GM diesel? I have a 1990 Suburban that I am planning to do this to. I have a 1978 GM pickup that is going to be the engine donar, the only thing I am worried about is tranny control. My 1990 has a overdrive auto, I am 90% sure it is a TH700-R4, I don't think they went to the other style until 1991, does anyone know for sure? Will the tranny work without any electronic control, is there a TV cable on this model or is it all electronic? Thanks for any help you can give me.
