Seat upholstery was air tight and sealed to a hardboard base under the springs. There was a damper similar to the rotating damper on a charcoal smoker - a pair of triangluar cutouts that opened when rotated to line up with identical cutouts on the fixed part.

Open position gave a softer ride by letting air escape from the spring assembly - closed was firmer by keeping the air in when you hit a bump and compressed the srings and - in theory - the trapped air. Dash plaque indicated position of the lever on the damper under the seat.

Did it work? We've had several trucks with the remnants of this system. One seemed intact. I weigh 220 and there is no upholstery fabric or damper that air tight. Maybe it would work for some smaller guys. I see this as another example of Chrysler engineering where their ideas were way ahead of the materials to make it work.
