As most of you have heard there has been a pretty bad fire going on in the mountains just west of Denver. I live about 15 miles from it and DaninCO is about five miles further than me. With 2500+ acres burned and only 35% contained it is not over yet. Amazingly, no one has lost a home, though over 1200 people were evacuated. Our snowpack is only at 25% of normal so we are in July conditions already. The 2x4's at your local lumber yard likely have more moisture content than the trees in my backyard. Right now the prime focus on how the fire started is on a couple 9th grade boys who were seen running from the place where the kids hang out and smoke. If they are convicted, they may be responsible for the cost of the fire efforts (right now at $850,000) I hope they get back in school so they can get a GOOD paying job. As is, they'll be paying for that last cig for the rest of their lives.
I just want those of you that get into the back country to be real careful. It is a lot of peoples' backyard.
