It depends on how much of the work you are going to do and how much the repair shop will be doing. I've got a bit over 2K in machine shop fees for my 218. But I had them disassemble, clean and inspect, replace as needed, and reassemble the engine. If you are going to tear it apart and put it back together yourself, then 1K to about 1.5K should cover for machine shop work and parts. Also unless you have your own shop or garage to work in, you also need to consider shop fees for removing and replacing the engine. One other thing, instead of using a transmission jack for removing the transmission, I use an engine hoist. Just open the passenger side door, stick the hoist in, hook a short chain to the top cover, then use the hoist to lower the transmission to the floor. If you are on a concrete floor you can easily slide the transmission out from under the truck. Good Luck with it, Robert
