there is a guy who advertises in the military vehicles magazine that is involved with harleys and old military stuff. i can find it if noone else knows. he sells all kinds of modified or beefed up harley engines. the newer breed of harley engines combined with modern upgrages like breakerless ignitions and common available carbs, make harley and reliable able to be mentioned in the same conversation. personally, i would rebuild the orig engine with some reversible but effective modern upgrades. my heavy truck engine rebuilder drives a ferrarri with a modified chrysler dual point ignition, a one wire gm alternator and a msd igntion firing box. carbs have been replaced with less judgemental units and presto! the car has become a realistic driver. you can do the same to any vehicle you have to make a reliable fun hobby. good luck
