318 question. Again.

I have a 318 (identified as such on the ID plate on the cab) in a '68 W300. I have been told this is a "wide block" 318. Since I am fairly new to Dodge engines, I wondered if someone would go through the basics for me. How does this engine differ from other 318s? When did it first come out? Are any other cid outputs made from the same block?
