I guess a standard car trailer is a tandem axle 16 footer. Yes! A PW will fit on one of those trailers. As a matter of fact, I bought the '55 C-1-PW I had about 40 miles from home. I woulda hauled it with the truck I had at the time (68 Chevy K-20), but I lost ALL brakes on it the day before. So then I borrowed a '80 Chevy Crew Cab and used it. My friend had a 14 foot single axle trailer we hauled the PW on. Yes, I admit, that was not the right trailer for the load, but was all I had acess to at the time. THe truck hauled it fine, but the trailer sure squated. I now have a 16 foot Tandem axle trailer that really hauls nice. I havent hauled a PW on it yet, but have hauled a couple M-37's with it, and it does fine with them. I plan to build a 20 foot tri-axle in a few years and use that as my hauler. That would have room and weight to spare!
