70% of what engine and trans you want to put in it depends on what gears are in it now.
nice little run about engine depending on weight your pulling is a international dt 466 with an 5 speed automatic allison 2 speed rear.
dt466 is a very good engine and very inexpensive. compared to others.
i had 2 international 1800 series wreckers with that set up. i could pull start a 90,000lb. tractor trailer with no problem. there is a hundred combinations you can put in that. all depends on how much you want to spend and how much room is under the hood.
