Have you thought about powder coating? My buddy bought one of those kits from Eastwood and redid the aluminum wheels on his car. The factory clearcoat had been scratched off in places and they were looking bad. They turned out really nice and have held their shine for 2 years. (That's how long they have been done)

Impressed me enough to get one. Clearcoated some brass and it is nice too. If you can fit it in an oven it is the way to go in my opinion. DON'T use your household oven. I got one for free in a REALLY ugly color from a kitchen redo. Something to consider anyway. Ask around, maybe someone local would do it for you. Kevin
