Measure the top of the cylinder head, if it is about 25 inches it is a 251 or a 265. If it is about 23 inches, it is a 230. I don't think it makes much difference whether it is a 251 or a 265...both are better than a 230.
I think $75 is a bargain unless it is really junk.....but it hardly matters what you pay for it because a rebuild will be many hundreds at least. It is not hard to spend 1-2 thousand on a quality rebuild.
I have one 230 and one 251 PW and I do think the 251 is better....just enough more powerful to make a difference in everyday driving. Not sure you will be able to use the trans that is attached. If it is a 5 speed, which would be really nice, it is probably a bit longer than the standard PW transmissions. This might not fit , but others have had more experience with this than me.
