Differential drain plugs

I am in the process of refilling the transfer case, transmission and differentials with fresh fluid. There are several plugs with square holes for either a drain plug or a fill plug. Anyone know what type of tool this takes? It's bigger than a 3/8 drive, and smaller than a 1/2 drive socket wrench. I've never come across one of these before, so it gives me an excuse to buy a new tool. I just need to know what to buy! TIA
