Hey guys,
Something in my rear end finally snaped after all these years and I can't find any parts.
I found a guy that has some sort of old military powerwagon with the open cab and very short bed sides. Havn't seen it yet.
Bought the entire front axel from him that is in great condition inside, the only difference between my truck and that axel is that his has a bolt on inspection cover.
Now I need the rear but apparently his has a centered rear axel and he is missing the differential part but has the axels. From what he described this is actually a heavier duty axel than mine! I know it is possible to swap to centered and am wondering what is involved and are there any disadvantages. Which kind is easier to find parts for and which is stronger? Any ideas what that axel is from and what its rating is?
Providing my differential is not the problem could I swap it into the other housing? Could I swap from his front axel that I bought?
Thanks and sorry for the barage of questions.
