Without looking at the carb, all I can say is there must be some flooding problem inherent in the design of the carb. Check to see if the float does not fit snug on the pin or sides of the carb. Look for anything that could cause a tight fit(float/needle) after the engine is warm. Do you have the same problem if you start the engine cold and then shut off the engine? If not, then it is caused by heat expansion. Clean the line from the filter to the carb to make sure nothing is working it way to the carb and causing the float to not seat. Is your needle all metal or is it rubber tipped? Rubber does a little better job at seating. This is about all I can offer. My guess it's a heat problem causing the float to hang up until you knock the side of the carb. Good Luck!
