Tonight I am pretty sure I ran out of gas. Tank sounded empty when I knocked on it. Fuel guage was reading 1/2 when it happened though.

The original fuel pump for my 1942 230 L head was removed when the truck was converted to 12 volt, and an electric pump installed at the tank.

Ran and got gas - put 6 gallons in and tried to start it. Several attempts later I realized I was no longer hearing the familiar

tic-tic-tic-tic

of the fuel pump when I turned the key all the way right.

So is the pump shot, or do I have to prime it manually somehow since presumably it ran itself dry?

Electrical connections seemed good, intact but it's kind of hard to tell when your as far to the right as you can get on a 4 lane road with no shoulder, speed limit 35 and folks doing 50, at night and the temp is dropping and the police officers headlights are at juuuuuuust the right angle to hit you in the eyes when you raise up to look over the axle at the fuel pump. No snow or rain at least.
