If your talkin 230 Dodge forget what you learned. Use a 15/50 100% synthetic that has more additives than carter has pills and change your filter with each oil change. Remember synthetic is good for 12,000+ miles but I always change mine in my cars every 5,000 miles, but since your not going to be driving it to much it doesn't allow the sludge buildup of conventional oils.

When changing the filter, I use a suction tool to suck up the oil from around the filter prior to pulling it up, no mess.

If you use conventional oil and don't drive it to much, I would change it out every 500, but add a 30 mile trip now and then to burn out sludge or change the oil more often.

P.S. You don't have to worry about the filter getting plugged, it takes about 10,000 miles for that to happen, but the engine will still be lubricated because it is a partial filtering system. That means some of the oil always by passes the filter (designed that way).
