Low Temp. Vapor Lock or Coil Problem?

I have been chasing a hesitation at whild driving at freway speeds going up hills for the last two weeks. The engine is a 230 flat head recently rebuilt. I put it on the road last Christmas and it has functioned flawlessly since then until this problem arose. The Carter Ball & Ball has been rebuilt and seems to function perfectly. All fuel lines are new. The tank has been pressure tested and cleaned at the local radiator shop. Vacuum is steady at 19 inches of mercury at idle (about 650 RPM). I have put the entire fuel system under pressure and believe I have found and corrected all of the leaks in the fuel system.

I live in Phoenix so the temp. has been rising lately and the problem got dramatic when the temp. reached 85 degrees last Monday. The engine would actually choke itself out after a few miles. I would have to let it cool for 5 minutes and then it would restart only to repeat the problem.

I have one fule line from the fuel pump to the carb. that passes about an inch away from the exhaust manifold that I can relocate. Unfortunately the temp. has dropped here in Phoenix and I can not test it to failure until later on next week when the temp. rises again. I am really beginning to think that this may be a temp. related coil/ignition problem.

Does anyone have any experience with this type of problem?
