My friend has a 2.1 megapixel and its super for taking pictures and then printing out to a good inkjet. You cant tell the difference between it and a film camera. I know the megapixel rate is even higher now. The more megapixels the better the image the better the photo will look coming off your inkjet with the high dollar photopaper.

For pictures only needing to be on the web or used on the computer screen a 1.3megapixel is probably enough.

Camera's when set in the highest mode will only take a handful of pictures. My friends 2.1 in the high mode will save only 8 pictures before needing to be unloaded. 800x600 will will get about 75 pictures on the camera and in some cases those will print out on photo paper just fine.

The bigger the memory card the more pictures it will hold.

Digital camera's will eat batteries up in a hurry! I personally would try to find a camera with a battery pack in it and can be recharged.

The good camera's have all the fancy features of a film camera. Most are smart and will detect light settings and flash for you making picture taking real easy. In some cases a bad picture can be adjusted on the computer and will look just fine.

As far as brands I could not tell you as I havent kept up on the latest stuff. My friend lets me borrow his when ever I need it so no need to buy one right now!

Todd
