I converted my '53 M37 from 24volt to 12volt when I installed the Cummins. It seemed at the time that it would be less expensive than converting the engine... I think if I was do to it over again, I would have converted the engine I purchased (used) to 24 volt...

Some of my conversion info (I haven't finished the parts on how the engine is exactly wired up yet) can be found on my webpage at:
http://www.garbee.net/~cabell/12voltconversion.htm

Dan Pinkham wrote an article a while back for MV Magazine on how he converted his Hercules powered M37 to 12 volt.

One thing to remember is that the circuit breakers are designed for 24 volts. If you hook up a trailer (say a M101) and run your lights at night, you will overload the one on your light circuit at 12volts. I've got a writeup of the Hella headlight relay instalation I used that solves this problem on my webpage as well.

Hope this helps...
