I remember brouching this idea years back and recieved about the same response from most those I inquired of.
I think a workable diesel is what we all want with some content with a 4-banger. I personally want a in-line 6 whether gas or diesel. A 6 runs smoother than a 4 and so on.
I would like to know why some in-line 6 diesels like the chrysler-nissan SD-33 produce only 110hp w/turbo yet some 4-bangers produce more hp. What limits a diesel from producing adequit power even with 6 cylinders? The SD-33 is about the size of a 251 but yet the 251 produces 125hp being a L-head design gas engine.
How much hp & torque do we really need to power a WDX-WM300 over what it already has in a 251? Ray at helitool has stated that the 318 has more power than is really needed in our PWs so what is a good happy medium for hp & torque in our PWs?
If a 251 produces 125hp and the 318 produces 180-200hp, would say 150-160hp be plenty adequit for most PW needs?
One last question, If the GM V-8 could be converted to a diesel, why couldn't the 251 be converted ?
