For starters, the '64 comes with a 318 Poly, a modified Hemi that lends itself well to rebuild. Don't be discouraged because most everywhere you go for parts will be a dead end because of parts people who are either lazy or unaware that there is a big difference between the 318 A (Poly) and 318 LA (wedge) There is every part that you need for the Poly available. The truck should have a good frame, NP435 transmission, NP201 transfer case and 4:11 gears (assuming a W200) A Dana 44 front and Dana 60 rear. I'm inclined to go with Tom on the parts truck theory if the rust is very bad. Although VPW, and others, supply replacement rockers etc. and most sheet metal is still available in the West.
I'm not partial to the '70's and 80's for various reasons that I'l answer by e-mail. ( nothing derogatory, just personal preference)
