These gloves are good to about -10 F. with the wool inserts depending on the individual. The gauntlets on the end will fit over the sleeves of any coat, including big heavy "Carhart" jackets. Now for serious cold weather protection, ie, -40 to -60 F. find a pair of "Artic Mittens". These mittens WILL keep your hands and fingers warm. They have a liner made from the same material as the old field jacket liner. The pair I have were used in -50 to -60 F. weather while fixing pull-aparts on the Alaska Railroad. Robert
