I am just about done rebuilding my MU 2 winch. A comment in a post below brings this question up. The 4 keys on the spool shaft are the correct Braden keys. In the smaller shaft the key for the worm was missing and I bought the correct size metal stock amd made a key. My question is, Is this key supose to be of a special material or am I OK? I was just about to install the lower shaft this afternoon. Also the Woodriff key was missing and I replaced it with one from the hardware store. I assume that this was OK. Let me know if the key I made needs to be replaced with one from Braden. The winch will not see very heavy use. It is going on my Carryall.
