diesel pw

I have a 54pw with a bad motor,I also have an 89 d300 with a cummins turbo motor with a bad cab,Has anyone ever tried putting a diesel engine into a power wagon? I know there is a guy locally with a GM v-8 diesel in his pw and it's auwsum,sounds and runs great. But the cummins is a stright six and is longer than the GM motor. Looking for any help.
