Ed,
I wouldn't hesitate a second using this grease. The snapping rolls turn MANY times faster than a winch gearbox and can withstand the heat and punishment of running constantly. We rebuilt a header that was used for harvesting over a 1000 acres and was 10 years old. A few required shims for correct lash but most were still perfect.
I would say, as long as everything else is fine in your gearbox - no worn shafts, correct gear lash, no badly worn or damaged gears you will be fine.
I'm no expert, just relating my experiences. Hope this helps, Kevin
